Update complete for times in 2008
Barcelona (in Spain) - The trains follow a route through France and enter Spain at the border station Cerbere (French side)/Port Bou (Spanish side). Departures are daily from Paris Gare de Lyon station and arrive at Barcelona Franca station unless noted. All TGV, EC and Talgo (TAL) trains mentioned below require a reservation.
Important Note - The connections to Barcelona from France are complicated by the difference in the track width between Spain and the rest of Europe. Direct trains must utilize cars with special bogeys that can adjust between the two types of track. Direct overnight trains to Spain (from Paris, Geneve or Milano) are operated at a higher cost. When possible, we try to recommend trains that avoid these extra costs.
